God's Symphony

(excuse the lack of caps, i am typing this on my phone and it won't let me capitalize anything!)

living in dc has provided one wonderful thing - summer storms. i drove through the city and watched as lightening lit up the sky. then i stood on my porch and watched the same lightening storm make the night become day. then came the rest of the storm.

watching a storm like this is watching god's symphony. the lightening is the slow start, each trail of electrons captivating and drawing in the avid watchers. then come the distant rumbles, the sighing wind, and the racous booms. the drops pound a beat on nature and man, making everything shiny and new. the wafting smell of rustling leaves and tires on pavement, a distinct melding of what has been created for us, both by the big guy upstairs and our fellow homonid.

we are small and ineffectual in comparison, not capable of producing anywhere near the power, might, and beauty of nature. yet we are graced with a gift so potentially dangerous, yet lovely in her drifting rage.

i love a good summer storm.
